How to use
- Click “Choose files” or drop your WebP files onto the box. You can add several files at once.
- Each file is automatically converted to AVIF on your device as soon as it is added. Download them one by one, or all together as a ZIP file.
Frequently asked questions
How much smaller is AVIF than WebP?
AVIF compresses better than WebP: at a similar look a photo is often about a quarter smaller, and some images more. The WebP is already compressed, so converting compresses it again; keep the default High quality to avoid visible loss.
Can every browser and app open AVIF?
Current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari (16 and later) show AVIF, but older browsers and many apps do not. Keep the WebP for those, or convert back with AVIF to WebP.
How many files can I convert at once?
The site sets no limit on the number of files, but how many you can convert depends on your device's memory and speed. Files are processed one at a time and stay in your device's memory until you download them. Large batches or very large images may fail, especially on phones. If that happens, convert them in smaller groups.
Is the image file information kept?
No. Converting to AVIF converts only the image: information such as the date, camera equipment and location is not carried over to the new file.
Are my files uploaded to an outside server?
No. Everything runs in your browser, so your files never leave your device. The page only downloads the tool's own code when you add the first file.
