- Check the settings above the box. The pixel size is always kept.
- Click “Choose files” or drop your PNG files onto the box. You can add many at once.
- Each file is converted to AVIF on your device as soon as it is added. Download them one by one, or all together as a ZIP file.
Frequently asked questions
Is transparency kept?
Yes. AVIF supports transparency, so transparent and semi-transparent areas stay as they are.
Is the conversion lossless?
No. AVIF compresses with a small loss in quality, which is how it gets so small. At “High” the difference is hard to see; to keep every pixel exactly, keep the PNG.
How many files can I convert?
There is no limit on the number of files. Files are converted one at a time, so a large batch simply takes longer. Very large images, such as 48-megapixel photos, may fail on phones with little memory; a computer handles them.
Is the photo information kept?
No. Converting to AVIF copies the picture but not the photo information: the date, camera and location are not written into the new file.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Everything runs in your browser, so your files never leave your device. The page only downloads the tool's own code when you add the first file.
