How to use
- Click “Choose files” or drop photos onto the box. The list shows each photo's date, camera and whether it has a location.
- Press “View and edit” on a photo to see all of its information. For a JPG file, change the fields you want to fix.
- Press “Save and download”. A new file with the same name is saved; your original file stays as it is.
Frequently asked questions
Which files can I edit?
You can view the information in JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC and AVIF files, and save changes to JPG files. To edit a HEIC photo, first convert it with HEIC to JPG, which keeps the date and camera.
My camera's clock was wrong. How do I fix the date?
Open the photo, enter the correct date and time, and save. The date taken, the date digitised and the file's date are all set to that value. Enter the time as it was where the photo was taken and choose that place's time zone (for summer time, the summer one such as BST or CEST): its time difference is recorded too.
Does editing lower the quality?
No. Only the information block is rewritten and the image data is copied unchanged, so the photo looks exactly the same and keeps its colour profile.
What happens to the maker note and XMP?
The maker note, a block of data specific to the camera maker, is removed from the saved file: its contents rely on positions that move when the information is rewritten. Viewing a photo removes nothing. XMP, which some apps write alongside EXIF, is kept, except for the fields you changed, so no app shows the old values. The small preview image some cameras embed is not kept either, as it could show the photo the old way round.
Are my files uploaded to an outside server?
No. Everything runs in your browser, so your files never leave your device. The page only downloads the tool's own code when you add the first file.
