Frequently asked questions

When should I choose PNG instead of JPG?

Choose PNG for pages with text, charts, diagrams or drawings: PNG stores every pixel without loss, so letters and thin lines stay crisp, without the blur JPG can add around them. For pages that are mostly photos, JPG gives much smaller files.

Why are the PNG files larger than JPG?

PNG compresses without discarding anything, while JPG discards detail the eye hardly notices. A page of text is often still small as PNG, but a page with photos or gradients can be several times larger than the same page as JPG. A lower resolution also makes the files smaller.

Can I use it for confidential documents?

Yes. Your browser opens the PDF and draws its pages on your device. Neither the PDF nor the images are uploaded, so contracts, invoices and other confidential documents stay on your device.

Can I convert a password-protected PDF?

No. PDFs that ask for a password when you open them are not supported. Open it in your PDF app with the password, save a copy without protection, and convert that copy.

Are my files uploaded to an outside server?

No. Everything runs in your browser, so your files never leave your device. The page only downloads the tool's own code when you add the first file.
