Remove metadata from PDF files

Remove the author's name, title, dates and other hidden details from PDFs before you share them. The pages stay exactly as they are, and nothing is uploaded.

or drop them here

Files are processed on your device and never uploaded.

How to use

  1. Click “Choose files” or drop your PDFs onto the box. You can add many at once.
  2. Each PDF is cleaned on your device as soon as it is added, keeping its name. Download them one by one, or all together as a ZIP file.

Frequently asked questions

What metadata does a PDF carry?

A PDF's document properties: the title, author, subject, keywords, the application that created it and the one that made the PDF, and the creation and modification dates. Many PDFs also carry the same details as XMP metadata, and an identifier that can link copies of the same file.

Does the content change?

No. Text, images, links and form fields stay as they are. The file is rewritten from its latest version, so earlier versions that some editors keep inside the file, with their old details, are dropped too.

Why can't it clean my PDF?

Password-protected PDFs cannot be rewritten without their password, so they are not supported. Comments keep their authors' names; remove comments in your PDF editor if needed.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Everything runs in your browser, so your files never leave your device. The page only downloads the tool's own code when you add the first file.
